Ernie “Ernestine” C. Clay, age 76, resident of Marion, Indiana, formerly of New Castle, Indiana, went Home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2012. She was a patient at St. Vincent Hospice Facility in Indianapolis, Indiana.
She was born August 31, 1935 in Lenoir, North Carolina a daughter of the late Oscar and Carolyn (Justice) Clay.
She had resided in New Castle and Marion most of her life. She was a graduate of Mooreland High School in 1954, and was a member of the Eastside Community Church in New Castle. She had retired as Deli Manager for the Kmart Store in Marion, Indiana after 30 years of service. She was very involved with her family’s activities, and also loved gardening.
Left to cherish her loving memory include: 1 daughter, Tamye Hendricks of Sweetser, Indiana; 1 granddaughter, Arielle Nantz of Sweetser, Indiana; 2 sisters, Inez Flynn of Indianapolis, Indiana and Betty Clay of New Castle, Indiana; and also several nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 brother, Lloyd Clay; and 1 sister in infancy, Waunita Clay.
Calling will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Macer-Hall Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Funeral will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the East Side Community Church (545 South 25th Street, New Castle, Indiana 47362) with Reverend Terry Bisher officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens in New Castle.
